Leadership Team
Our Minister

Rev Godfrey Nicholson came to Newmount in August 1999. He is married to Lynda, and they have two children, Rebecca and Matthew.
Before coming into the ministry Godfrey took a degree in Mathematics and Physics, worked for three years in a scientific research laboratory, and then for 15 years taught Mathematics at a boys’ boarding school in the Cotswolds.
He trained for the ministry at Wesley House, Cambridge, and has served in Circuits in Kidderminster, Eccles (Greater Manchester) and now in Derby.
Hobbies include sport - he used to referee soccer matches, and still enjoys an occasional game of cricket - music, steam railways, family history and crossword puzzles.
As a minister he believes in the importance of preaching, with an emphasis on teaching the Bible. He wants to see this take place in acts of worship that are relevant to all worshippers, and that include both traditional and contemporary material. Above all, he wants to see the church confidently sharing its Good News that Jesus is alive, that Jesus offers new life, that Jesus is God.
